Even after regular clinic hours have ended, patients still have the ability to contact a nurse with health-related questions.  Patients can call any of the five Mountain Valleys Health Centers locations: Big Valley, Burney, Butte Valley, Fall River, & Tulelake. Mountain Valleys Health Centers offers this service through Partnership Health Plan and Team Health Medical Call Center.  A patient can speak with a Registered Nurse simply by calling any MVHC phone number; easy prompts will direct your call to the appropriate system.

The RN will provide primary care assessment, health information, home treatment advice, or advise you to go to an Emergency Department.  The RN will also fax a report to your MVHC Primary Care Provider and staff will follow up to ensure your problem has been resolved.  Both Partnership and Team Health nurses are HIPAA compliant and patient information exchange is handled within the strictest guidelines.  They are also dedicated to quality service which aligns with our commitment to community wellness.

Mountain Valleys Health Centers recently received the Quality Award from Partnership HealthPlan of California.  Burney Health Center, Big Valley Health Center, and Tulelake Health Center were the three out of five MVHC sites that received the recognition. These quality measures address patient satisfaction, efficiency, and clinical outcomes.

Dave Jones, CEO of Mountain Valleys Health Centers states, “I am very proud of our health centers for earning this award.  Our other two sites, Fall River Valley and Butte Valley were also very close to receiving this award.”

“We are very pleased with the excellent outcome that three of Mountain Valleys Health Centers have achieved.  There were only four 100% Quality awards in our entire service area and Mountain Valleys received three of them,” says Jack Horn, CEO of Partnership HealthPlan.

Robert Moore, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for Partnership Health Plan added, “This is the first time in the history of the Partnership HealthPlan that a single organization has three sites that have all achieved 100% in the Quality Improvement Program.  It takes an organization-wide effort to achieve this.  They should be proud.  We are proud to have them serving our members.”

Partnership HealthPlan of California is a joint public/private organization managed health care system designed to provide a cost effective method of health care delivery to Medi-Cal recipients in Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Marin, Mendocino, Modoc, Napa, Trinity, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo Counties in northern California.  The HealthPlan’s goals are to improve access, quality and cost effectiveness through a managed care system.  It links members with a primary care provider and has been successful in reducing inappropriate use of emergency rooms, providing an appropriate level of inpatient care, developing innovative case management programs and providing more services locally.  As of February 1, 2015, the HealthPlan has 513,174 Medi-Cal members.

What began as a usual Chamber meeting last Tuesday morning soon turned into the power of community and goodwill. That morning the Burney Chamber of Commerce reminded members they had set aside $5,000 raised from successful fundraising during 2015 to be used for a project.Upon hearing this, one individual at the meeting had the notion of bringing two local health care organizations, Mayers Memorial Hospital and Mountain Valleys Health Centers together to provide matching funds. Within 24 hours both CEOs Louis Ward of Mayers Memorial Hospital and Dave Jones of Mountain Valleys Health Centers were enthusiastic in supporting their local communities. This brought the funding up from $5,000.00 to $10,000.00. With the additional funding Burney Chamber of Commerce members will be extending the deadline for the business project to February 25, 2016.

If you would like to provide matching funds or give a donation please contact Anne Kerns at 530-335-2111 or email

If you would like to submit a project idea, please provide the following:

  1. Describe what your project is and how you see it being of benefit to the entire business community.
  2. Give the Burney Chamber of Commerce an estimate of the cost ($10,000.00 or less).
  3. How do you see your project being put into practice?
  4. Is there a way to measure the effectiveness of this project?  If there is, please describe the method of measurement.
  5. Get it to the Burney Chamber office by February 25, 2016.
