Most everyone is now aware of the growing concern about the coronavirus pandemic. Mountain Valleys Health Centers (MVHC) is preparing, as are many other facilities. As things continue to change, daily, and sometimes hourly, we are adapting our plan. The basics are hand hygiene, social distancing, and staying home if you are sick. Currently, the CDC asks that patients who are ill with flu-like symptoms to self-isolate and stay home. In most cases, healthy children and adults will fight the coronavirus without treatment, much like having the flu, influenza. The intent behind self-isolation is to prevent the further spread of this virus.Testing supplies are in very high demand but very short supply. MVHC does NOT currently have testing supplies to test for COVID-19.
The supplies we had were limited. We are working with public health to get needed supplies for the near future. We are working with our local health departments as well as hospitals to create centralized testing stations. As we progress with preparation, we will update our website, social media, and Patient Portal. Please be patient, calm, and stay prepared at home. If you are a patient who takes chronic medication, now is a good time to pick up a refill from your pharmacy. Please contact the pharmacy for the refill, and if you are without refills, please contact your clinic.
It is a scary time and there are many questions and concerns. We are here to support you and your families. If you have questions, we are here to help. Be sure to like us on Facebook to get the quickest updates. Remember the most important things: hand washing, social distancing, and staying home if you are sick.
