Ernest (Dan) Bouse was born in Bieber, was raised on the Kramer Ranch northwest of Bieber, and graduated from Big Valley High School in 1967. He received his AA from Lassen College and his BS from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Dan spent 27 years in fire management for the US Forest Service, retiring in 1999 as the deputy fire management officer for Protection. He also spent 37 years in emergency medical services as a paid volunteer and as resident manager of the Adin Ambulance Station, finally serving full-time as the director of Ambulance Services at Modoc Medical Center, and retiring in June 2011.
Dan has two children–Matt, who is a paramedic for Nashville Metro Fire and who has a wife, Michelle, and three children; and Mandy, his daughter who lives in Adin with her husband Ryan and two sons.
Dan enjoys being a grandfather, fishing, and landscaping.
Dan has his community college teaching credential, California Certified Optional Scope AEMT, and is affiliated with the board of directors. He is part of the Adin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Big Valley Endowment Foundation, and is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Northern California Emergency Medical Services.
