Family Nurse Practitioner, Tami Blecha, joined the Mountain Valleys Health Centers staff in January 2021 and is seeing patients at the Big Valley Health Center. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washburn University, Topeka, KS and has been a registered nurse for over 18 years. She joined the United States Air Force as a commissioned officer in 2003 where she was stationed at Yokota AB outside Tokyo, Japan. She worked inpatient pediatrics where she became certified in inpatient hematology/oncology (chemotherapy) and also gave her experience in Inpatient Medical/Surgical, Orthopedics, Post-Anesthesia Care, and Labor & Delivery.
She received her Master of Science in Nursing – specializing in Nursing Education from the University of Iowa in 2013. During this time, she taught clinicals to nursing students.
Tami worked in an Endocrinology outpatient clinic for 8 years which sparked her passion for Endocrinology & Diabetic Care. During this time, she earned her certification as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and was encouraged to pursue nurse practitioner education. She went on to receive her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from Purdue University Global which she completed in 2020.
The accomplishment Tami is most proud of is serving in the United States Air Force, including her deployment to Balad Air Base working as a triage nurse for critically injured service members.
When she is not working in the clinic, Tami is spending time with her husband of almost 29 years, Richard. She also enjoys photography, traveling, swimming, hiking, mountain biking and riding her motorcycle. She would love to ride across the United States.
