Erik will be joining the Mountain Valleys Health Centers Staff at our Mount Shasta Health Center in August 2021.
Erik and his wife Emily, with their two boys (and a third child on the way!) are all very excited to start their next chapter in life in Mt. Shasta.
For Erik, starting work at Mountain Valleys Health Centers as a family medicine physician is 22 years in the making, as he took his first EMT class in 1999. He then joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and proudly served with the Marine Corps infantry from 2001-2004, and was part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his “green side” tour was complete, he finished his enlistment at Naval Hospital Rota Spain.
After proudly serving his country and coming back home to the greatest Nation on Earth, he set sights on completing his education, although at first he was not sure about staying in the medical field. He completed his Associate of Arts at Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo, and then transferred to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. It wasn’t until his last year of undergraduate studies that a kind professor challenged him to set his sights on the stars and not settle for anything less.
Erik went to medical school at UC Davis, and is now finishing his last year of residency training at Mercy Medical Center, Redding.
He humbly looks forward to serving this beautiful mountain community, where people travel from all over the world to marvel at Mt. Shasta’s majesty.
