Mountain Valleys Health Centers is pleased to announce, Shannon Gerig, as its new CEO and, Susan Knoch, as its new COO. After 32 years with Mountain Valleys Health Centers, Dave Jones, CEO, retired July 2019. There were copious heartfelt good-byes as staff, board, and community members congratulated Jones on his many years of service and wished him farewell.
“It’s been a privilege to work with the board and staff over the years,” says Dave Jones. “I am extremely grateful for their steadfast commitment to our patients. It made my job a lot easier with a board who prioritized our patients. I know with Shannon and Susan at the helm, Mountain Valleys will continue to succeed. We have been succession planning for over 5 years, and I am certain this transition will go smoothly. I am confident in their leadership, vision, and expertise.”
“I am truly grateful for this opportunity. I have been with Mountain Valleys for over 20 years and it is my privilege to lead this great organization. We have outstanding staff and are blessed to serve our patients in our wonderful communities. I plan to sustain the culture we have created at MVHC which we know can be a chore with growth. We have grown to 7 primary care sites with behavioral health services as well as offering primary dental care at 3 sites. We continue to focus and are committed to providing quality patient care. We have a great team with a strong set of providers. There is no doubt there will be many challenges as we continue to face provider shortages across the nation; it can be tough to compete with urban areas. I look forward to these challenges and my opportunity to serve our communities,” shared Shannon Gerig.
Shannon was born and raised in Yakima Valley, Washington. She received her bachelor’s degree of science in nursing in 1994 from the University of Washington. She currently lives in Big Valley on a cattle ranch with her husband and three sons. Her hobbies and interests are her children, family, and sports.
Susan Knoch was born and raised in the wonderful Intermountain Area where she attended Fall River Elementary and High School, graduating in 2002. In school, she enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball. Susan received her Licensed Vocational Nursing Degree from Feather River College in 2007 and then a Bachelor of Science and Public Health Degree in Nursing from Chico State University in 2010. She has been working for Mountain Valleys Health Centers since May 2004. During school, she worked as a medical assistant, then as an LVN, eventually as an RN, Director of Nursing, and now COO. Susan’s family includes her husband, Brandon, and two children. They enjoy doing anything outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and of course, cheering on their favorite sports teams.
